Ma Hei 麻黑 is the first known famous mountain and village in the current history of Yi Wu tea revival. Ma Hei is located in the central area of Yi Wu, the village is hidden deep in the dense forest, surrounded by green mountains. Tea trees grow in the original forest around the village, creating a harmonious picture of the coexistence of forest and tea, where the forest is full of tea and the tea is surrounded by the village.
Shi Men Kan 石门坎 is the oldest tea garden with the highest altitude in the Ma Hei area and also the highest quality. Dividing the areas of Luo Shui Dong and Ma Hei, the old road goes through Luo Shui Dong and over Shi Men Kan ridge to Ma Hei village. The remains of the stone path are still clearly visible today.
Shi Men Kan is a small old tea garden in the forest, quite far from Ma Hei village and located at a higher altitude. Old trees are scattered in the original forest, surrounded by other vegetation, the natural environment is rich, and the tea quality is excellent. Due to its distance and small area, this area was not subjected to reduction during the period of collectivization.
Shi Men Kan is an expensive tea in the Ma Hei area, originally there were only a few families who had tea estates called Shi Men Kan. Today, if you ask in Ma Hei, you will find at least 30 families that have Shi Men Kan, even in Luo Shui Dong, there are several families that own Shi Men Kan.
Tea flavor profile: The leaves have thick and wide flat stripes, the spring tea is glossy and dark black, making it very recognizable in the Yi Wu area. The tea has a honey-orchid aroma, the infusion shows a creamy aroma, the infusion is full and heavy, the bitterness and astringency are harmonious, it is soft as silk. The tea has a strong energizing effect and a distinct taste in the throat, the sweetness of the infusion is long-lasting and resistant to repeated steeping, which makes it a great choice.
The trees are of different heights and the tea trees grow quietly in the tall forest. Unknown ferns and wild flowers spread under the tea trees, creating a harmonious ecosystem with different heights.
